Mi-Gear
Conceived 2016
Legacy Site
Designed and conceived by Martin Ritter
Mi-Gear was conceived in 2016 as a digital platform concept for the international music industry, created to support year-round product discovery, global visibility, and structured business connection between manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and specialist retailers.
Substantial work was undertaken on the project until serious health-related circumstances affected its founder, Martin Ritter.
This site is preserved as a legacy reference, documenting the original concept and the direction behind Mi-Gear.
The Concept
Mi-Gear was developed around a simple idea: global business in the music industry should not depend solely on fixed schedules, geography, or short seasonal windows.
The platform was designed to provide an ongoing digital presence where brands could present products clearly, professionally, and continuously, allowing industry partners to explore, connect, and engage at any time.
Mi-Gear aimed to support the discovery of new products, emerging manufacturers, and specialist brands while offering a structured environment for international visibility and long-term relationship building.
The concept was not created to replace existing industry formats, but to complement the global ecosystem by offering an additional permanent digital reference point for business connection.
Intended Role
Mi-Gear was envisioned as a platform that could serve multiple segments of the industry simultaneously:
- manufacturers seeking international exposure
- distributors searching for new product opportunities
- dealers and boutique retailers looking for curated offerings
- buyers and industry partners exploring new markets
- brands requiring a long-term presentation environment beyond seasonal cycles
Its focus was clarity, credibility, and professional presentation — supporting international opportunity through accessibility.
The Founder

Mi-Gear was conceived by Martin Ritter.
His career spans several decades within the international music industry and is defined by a rare combination of musical foundation, artistic authorship, and commercial execution. From an early age, his orientation was shaped by classical piano training and composition, later merging with a lifelong focus on design, structure, and concept-led product identity.
He began his professional path in music retail, gaining direct insight into musicians, dealers, and real-world product performance. From there, his work expanded into product management, brand development, international sales, and global distribution, contributing to long-term market development across multiple continents.
In 1996, he founded and created an eponymous instrument bag brand that permanently changed how musical instrument bags and cases are designed, perceived, and valued worldwide. His later work expanded into a portfolio of distinct authored brands and heritage projects, each exploring a different relationship between protection, design, identity, and culture.
Mi-Gear was conceived as a natural extension of this accumulated experience — an attempt to translate decades of international knowledge and global relationships into a structured digital platform.
Due to health-related circumstances, Martin Ritter stepped back from active commercial engagement. This legacy site exists as a preserved reference and does not define the conclusion of his work.
